AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Rania, on Thursday left Jordan on a working visit to Japan, that will be preceded by a private visit to the UK where Their Majesties will attend HRH Princess Salma's graduation ceremony from a military course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

During his visit to Japan, His Majesty will meet with Japanese Emperor Akihito and Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito, according to a Royal Court statement.

The King is also scheduled to hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, which will cover bilateral ties and ways to promote cooperation in political, economic and development fields, as well as the latest regional developments.

His Majesty will have meetings with a number of senior Japanese parliamentary, economic and military leaders to foster cooperation between the two countries, the statement added.

HRH Prince Feisal was sworn in as Regent in the presence of a number of Cabinet members.

In May, King Abdullah and Abe held talks in Amman and agreed to upgrade Jordanian-Japanese ties to a strategic partnership in political and economic fields.

During the talks, His Majesty and the Japanese prime minister affirmed the importance of advancing economic and commercial cooperation, as well as increasing Japanese investments in vital sectors in Jordan.
