AMMAN (JT) - The United States House of Representatives recently passed a resolution commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of ties between the Kingdom and the US.

House Resolution 833, authored by California congressman Adam Schiff, also expresses admiration and gratitude for the friendship of the Jordanian people, congratulates His Majesty King Abdullah on "10 years of enlightened and progressive rule", and expresses hope for peace in the Middle East.

The resolution refers to the Kingdom as "an instrumental partner in the fight against Al Qaeda", noting that Jordan was victimised by terrorists in the 2005 hotel bombings, and praises the King's commitment to promoting tolerance and nonviolence as exemplified in the 2004 Amman Message.
