AMMAN — The Union for the Mediterranean’s 14th conference kicked off on Wednesday in Lisbon, Portugal to empower Mediterranean women economically, socially and politically, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
An official Jordanian delegation and local civil society representatives participated in the conference.
Social Development Minister Hala Lattouf said that some of the challenges encountered by women in the Mediterranean include armed conflicts resulting in forced migration, in addition to the continuing Israeli occupation.
These conditions stand as obstacles to Palestinian women and their socioeconomic progress, the minister added.
