AMMAN — The Public Security Department (PSD) on Monday said the Anti-Narcotics Department raided a farm in Salt after confirming that it was used for marijuana cultivation.

The PSD media centre said that 110kg of marijuana was seized, in addition to a firearm possessed by the farm owner.

Also Monday, the Jordan Customs Department (JCD) foiled an attempt to smuggle 110 packs of cigars and 270 packets of cigarettes hidden inside a vehicle at the Wadi Yutum customs crossing near Aqaba.

JCD staff also seized 50 litres of alcohol and 158 packs of cigarettes.

Around 17,466 trucks passed through the border during the first week of December, according to the JCD.
