11th Jordan-EU periodic meeting discusses human rights, democracy

AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Wednesday organised the 11th periodic meeting between Jordan and the EU to discuss issues related to democracy, human rights and law sovereignty, as well as progress made in these fields.
Ambassador Mahmoud Hmoud reviewed “close and strategic” ties between the Kingdom and the EU, where both sides “see eye-to-eye” on various regional and international issues, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Government Coordinator for Human Rights Basel Tarawneh stressed that Jordan has always cared for human rights, which can be seen through launching clear strategies that take into consideration national security and national values. EU Ambassador to Jordan Andrea Matteo Fontana and several officials from both sides attended the meeting that was held at the Jordan Institute of Diplomacy.
