AMMAN — Fifteen COVID-19 cases, among them one local infection, were recorded in the Kingdom on Tuesday, increasing the tally to 1,198, the government announced.
The local infection was a person who came into contact with a COVID-19 positive patient who was in quarantine. All residents of the building in the capital's Jabal Nuzhah where the person lived were tested and are awaiting results, according to a government statement.
The other 14 cases included 13 Jordanians who returned to the Kingdom from Saudi Arabia and one from Turkey.
Also on Tuesday, five recovered patients left hospitals, all from Prince Hamzah Hospital, while 5,647 virus tests were conducted, bringing the cumulative number of coronavirus tests administered since the beginning of the crisis to 477,448, according to the statement.
After registering one local case on Tuesday, the Kingdom’s epidemiological status will continue at the “moderate-risk level”, while moving to the “low-risk level” now requires 10 consecutive days without registering any local case.
The Ministry of Health renewed its call on citizens to abide by precautionary measures, mainly wearing face masks and maintaining physical distancing, as well as using the “Aman” (Safety) application, which alerts users if they come into contact with a person infected with the virus.
