'2.191m visited Jordan in first six months of 2016'

AMMAN — Tourism Minister Lina Annab on Wednesday said that the number of visitors to the Kingdom until the end of June reached 2.191 million, marking a 5 per cent drop compared with the same period last year.

One-day visitors were 1.752 million, a 1 per cent drop, while overnight visitors were 145,000, an increase of 6.5 per cent, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Asian and Pacific tourists increased by 10 per cent (115,000) and North and South Americans by 4 per cent (88,000), the minister added, noting that the ministry is expecting a "distinguished" season this summer due to ongoing promotional campaigns
