AMMAN — Royal Court Secretary General Yousef Issawi on Thursday inaugurated the Abu Alanda Park, which was implemented upon Royal directives given during a 2015 meeting between His Majesty King Abdullah and Amman officials.

This park is part of a series of Royal initiative projects executed in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM). The projects seek to establish seven similar parks in the capital and revamp another 30 by providing them with high-quality infrastructure and outdoor games, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The 5-dunum park, whose design considered the needs of people with disabilities, includes green areas for picnicking, a football pitch and children’s playgrounds.

The facility also includes a branch of the Zaha Cultural Centre, which is responsible for the administrative supervision of the park and will provide training courses for children and women from the local community in specially-equipped halls.

English, robotics and handicraft courses will also be offered in the facility.

Issawi said that Abu Alanda Park is the second park to be inaugurated under the Royal initiative, and seeks to be a development centre and picnicking place for local families, noting that similar projects will be implemented in other governorates, in addition to Amman.

Yousef Shawarbeh, president of GAM committee, voiced his appreciation for the Royal initiative projects and expressed hope that the park will positively impact the area’s residents.
