Al Hassa mine workers strike to demand better pay

AL HASSA — Hundreds of workers at Al Hassa phosphate mines went on strike on Sunday, disrupting the mine’s operations as well as production and export operations at Al Hassa mines in Tafileh.
Workers charged that the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company administration did not meet their demands and did not fulfil its promises to them.
The workers are demanding a salary increase, end of service compensation and post-retirement health insurance.
Workers at the phosphate mines at Shidiyeh began an open-ended strike on Sunday, demanding better pay and improved work conditions.
Workers at the electricity distribution company in Tafileh went on strike on Tuesday, demanding higher salaries.
Tens of unemployed residents of Tafileh Governorate organised a sit-in on Tuesday near the governor’s headquarters.
