AMMAN — The Aqaba Bird Observatory (ABO) has recently spotted the black-crowned sparrow-lark for the second time nationwide and the first in Aqaba.
ABO Director Firas Rahahleh said that teams at the observatory, affiliated with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), daily follow up on bird movement to monitor, spot and study their numbers, behaviours and species, according to an RSCN statement.
Rahahleh said that this species feeds on plants and insects. Rahahleh called on the public to help the bird hide from predators by releasing it in forests or grassy lands in the event that they spot the bird.
