Arab leaders support Jordan’s effort to secure border

AMMAN — Arab leaders, in a resolution issued following the Arab summit held in Nouakchott, voiced their full support for the procedures the Kingdom implemented to safeguard its national security after a terrorist attack in June targeted a forward military post that served Syrian refugees on the northeastern front.

They also called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities regarding Syrian refugees, expressing their appreciation for Jordan's efforts in hosting refugees.

Arab leaders highlighted the importance of the agreement signed between His Majesty King Abdullah and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on March 31, 2013, to defend Al Aqsa Mosque and other holy sites in Jerusalem.

They also praised the resolutions issued in the UNESCO Executive Council's 195th session, held in Paris in November 2014 — which Jordan and Palestine presented and were supported by Islamic and Arab states — regarding monitoring Israeli violations against cultural, natural and heritage sites.
