Army foils suspected drug smuggling attempts

AMMAN — A Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army official said that the eastern military command on Sunday foiled a suspected attempt by three people to infiltrate the country from Syria, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The military official added that the rules of engagement were applied, which led the suspects to retreat to Syria. He said that after searching the area, three bags containing 589,994 narcotic pills were seized and referred to the concerned authorities.

Also on Sunday, the northern military command foiled a suspected smuggling attempt by a number of people who tried to cross the border from Syria. Petra said the armed forces applied the rules of engagement which led to the suspects’ retreat to Syria. After searching the area, four bags containing 557,039 Captagon pills, 603 palm-sized sheets of hashish, and a weapon were seized and referred to the concerned authorities.
