AMMAN — Preventive Security Department personnel on Monday raided two factories manufacturing counterfeit sanitisers in Amman and Rusaifeh, as well as a factory producing counterfeit face masks in Russaifeh.
The spokesperson of the Public Security Department said that the raids took place following tip-offs on people manufacturing and selling counterfeit sanitisers in Amman and Rusaifeh, revealing that seven people were arrested and large quantities of counterfeit sanitisers were seized at an apartment used for manufacturing purposes.
An individual involved in manufacturing counterfeit sanitisers was also arrested at an unlicensed factory in Rusaifeh, the PSD added, noting that a quantity of the materials was found in the workshop, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The department was also informed about an individual using a workshop in the Rusaifeh area for making face masks that do not meet health and safety standards. The suspect was arrested and investigations were opened, he said.
To avoid falling victim to fraud, the spokesperson called on the public to buy sanitisers and face masks only from licensed pharmacies.
