Australian Muslims donate$1 million to Syrian refugees

AMMAN — The Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) office in the Kingdom on Thursday received $1 million donated by the Muslim community in Australia to support Syrian refugees in Jordan.
According to an IRW statement, an Australian delegation presented the financial assistance to the organisation during a visit to the Kingdom to become acquainted with efforts to support Syrian refugees.
The delegation visited Syrian families at the Zaatari Refugee Camp in addition to a number of injured Syrians receiving treatment at the Islamic Hospital.
The Australian government has recently announced an additional financial support of 21.5 million Australian dollars for Syrian refugees in different parts of the world, including those in Jordan.
HRH Princess Sumaya, deputy chairperson of Jordan Museum board of trustees, on Sunday met with Japanese Ambassador Tetsuo Shioguchi and an accompanying delegation at the museum.
