Bahraini MPs call for Gulf support to Jordan

MANAMA — Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the Bahraini Shura Council Sheikh Khaled Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa on Monday stressed the need to maintain Jordan’s stability and unity.
He highlighted the importance of supporting Jordan morally and economically to help it overcome the extraordinary economic conditions facing it.
Bahraini deputy Abdul Halim Murad, head of the Asala parliamentary bloc, called on Gulf countries to cover Jordan’s $2 billion fuel subsidies, an amount of money which, he said, does not constitute a burden on the Gulf Cooperation Council.
HRH Princess Basma met on Monday with Assistant Secretary General, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Amat Al Alim Alsoswa to discuss development issues in Jordan.
Interior Minister Hussein Majali met with his Bahraini counterpart Sheikh Rashed Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa on Tuesday.
Bahrain said on Wednesday that Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are taking the difficult conditions facing the Kingdom into consideration, especially the challenges due to the Syrian crisis, as Jordan thanked the country for its support.
