AMMAN — Jordanian-French relations have witnessed progressive development at all economic levels, Deputy Senate President Marouf Bakhit said on Tuesday.

He met with French Senator Cyril Pellevat, president of the French-Jordanian Group at the French senate, and referred to the Kingdom’s efforts in realising regional peace, stressing Jordan’s unaltered stance on the Palestinian issue, which is based on the two-state solution, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also said that the Kingdom hosts some 1.3 million Syrian refugees and spares no effort to provide them with basic needs despite immense pressures on the national economy.

Pellevat commended Jordan’s humanitarian role in hosting several waves of refugees and praised the Kingdom’s role in instilling a culture of peace.

Also on Tuesday, Bakhit met with Jo Leinen, member of the European Parliament, and stressed that the EU is an important partner for the Kingdom, and a main contributor to Jordan’s reform and development, Petra added.
