AMMAN — The Agriculture Ministry will continue banning the import of olive oil to support local production and farmers, Agriculture Minister Akef Zu’bi said Saturday at a meeting with members of the Jordan Olive Products Exporters Association (JOPEA) administrative board, according to a ministry statement.

Jordanian olive oil ranked seventh internationally in terms of production and quality, while over one million dunums are planted with olive trees in the Kingdom, according to JOPEA Chairman Fayyad Zyoud. Moreover, Zyoud said olive production this year will be better than the 2014 season.
