AMMAN — Baptist World Alliance (BWA) Secretary General Elijah M. Brown on Tuesday concluded a four-day visit to Jordan with a call for long partnership with Jordanians.

His visit succeeds a similar trip to Lebanon and included meetings with local Christian leaders and visits to religious and cultural sites, according to a BWA statement.

Brown who arrived in Jordan with his wife Amy visited the Baptism Site, Zarqa, Jerash and Petra.

Suheil Madanat, the head of the Baptist Convention in Jordan, and David Rihani, president of the Jordan Evangelical Council, told the visitor that Jordanians are able to practise their faith freely and safely thanks to the strong support Christians have from the Royal Hashemite family.

The Baptist World Alliance represents some 51 million Baptists worldwide, the statement said.
