Beirut blast similar to quake of 4.5 magnitude — JSO

AMMAN — The Jordan Seismological Observatory (JSO), affiliated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, on Tuesday announced that the explosion in Beirut was identical to an earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
JSO Director Mahmoud Qaryouti said that the observatory reported the blast at 6:08pm on Tuesday, describing the energy released from the explosion as "very strong".
