Brotherhood opposes Jordan’s participation in anti-IS coalition

AMMAN — The Muslim Brotherhood on Tuesday expressed its rejection of Jordan’s involvement in the US-led coalition against the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.

The Islamist movement said in a statement that it is against any foreign intervention in Arab and Muslim affairs, warning that the coalition will stoke sedition in the region.

The conspiracies targeting the “Ummah” or Muslim nation are an obstacle in the face of attempts to confront the “Zionist project”, which is now targeting Jordan, having already “swallowed up Palestine”, the Brotherhood said.

The movement charged that the US is now “sharing power” over the region with Iran.

It called for turning to reform requirements locally and fighting corruption, rather than distracting public opinion and wasting time and effort, stressing that there is no alternative to holding a national dialogue that leads to building a strong state.
