AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a 10 million euro grant agreement for the Aqeb pipeline project to provide Syrian refugee host communities with water.

The agreement with Germany aims at developing the water sector in Jordan to help it deal with challenges posed by the great number of Syrian refugees, especially in the northern governorates.

The total amount of German grants provided to Jordan in 2013 and 2014 stand at 84 million euros, all of which were directed to support Syrian refugee host communities.

The Council of Ministers also approved a memorandum of understanding on energy to be signed with Palestine and endorsed the 2015 draft amendments to the military penal code.
