AMMAN — The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the main pillars of implementation and the working plan for the sixth Discussion Paper issued by His Majesty King Abdullah last week.
The Ministry of Public Sector Development, in cooperation with the concerned governmental institutions, will oversee the preparation of the plan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The plan was divided into four executive themes to turn the paper’s contents into decisions, policies and practical steps.
The first pillar entails producing a holistic strategy for administrative reform to enhance the rule of law and empower public institutions and their employees.
The second aspect entails establishing the principles of “good citizenship”, the rule of law, and economically and politically empowering youths as well as fighting extremism.
The third pillar entails drafting a strategy to improve the judiciary and boost the rule of law. In this regard, His Majesty has ordered the formation of a Royal committee to reform the judiciary.
The Ministry of Justice will be providing the necessary support for the Royal committee and will implement its recommendations, Petra reported.
The fourth pillar entails establishing a complementary relationship between the executive and the legislative powers.
The prime minister will coordinate with the Lower House speaker and the Senate president to boost cooperation in realising the values outlined in the discussion paper, such as fighting nepotism and enhancing the independence of the legislative authority.
