AMMAN — In line with Royal directives to take all measures necessary to appoint 50 new guards for Al Aqsa Mosque, the Cabinet on Sunday decided that the appointees do not need to meet the regulations for other government appointments.
At a Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour entrusted Awqaf Minister Hayel Dawood with appointing the guards, who will help safeguard the mosque, especially in light of daily incursions and break-ins into the mosque by Jewish extremists under the protection of Israeli forces.
