Cable workers strike for fifth consecutive day

AMMAN — Workers at the United Cable Industries Company on Saturday continued with their open-ended strike for the fifth day, in support of four labourers who were dismissed by the company.
Electricity Workers Union (EWU) President Ali Hadid said the EWU had tried to reach a solution through various meetings at the Ministry of Labour to no avail.
Meanwhile, workers at the Central Electricity Generating Company said they supported their colleagues at the cable company.
Jordanian Electric Power Company (JEPCO) employees ended their strike on Tuesday after the company management met their demands, Electricity Workers Union (EWU) President Ali Hadid said.
The Electricity Workers Union (EWU) said on Tuesday that National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) workers would start an open-ended strike on September 10, after the company's administration refused to meet their demands, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Electricity Workers Union (EWU) on Wednesday notified the Samra Electric Power Generating Company’s administration of the employees’ plans to begin an open-ended strike November 26 if the company does not meet their demands.
