CDD warns against sunstrokes, urges caution during hot weather

By JT - May 21,2018 - Last updated at May 21,2018

AMMAN — The Civil Defence Department (CDD) on Sunday called on the public to avoid direct exposure to the sun in order to avoid sunstrokes and urged people to wear light and loose clothes and hats.

The CDD also urged people working in construction, agricultur or cattle raising sectors, whose work requires direct exposure to the sun, to have several times of rest in the shade, according to a CDD statement.

The department highlighted the importance of monitoring children and not allowing them to go out in hot weather, not to overload electric plugs, not to connect ACs and fans to one source of electricity and to do shopping at colder times of the day.

The CDD also called for following the advice of specialised doctors, mainly for diabetes, blood and heart diseases, as well as storing food in proper ways to avoid poisoning. People can contact 911 for any emergency.
