Celebrations across Kingdom mark Independence Day

AMMAN – Several celebrations were held around the Kingdom on Wednesday marking the 70th Independence Day.
The Jordan Hijaz Railway Corporation organised a train ride that carried 250 Jordanian families around the capital in celebration of the national day.
The 36km trip, started at Mahatta train station in central Amman, passing through, Al Manarah, Um Nuwarah, Qweismeh, Um Al Hiran, Abu Alanda, and Jweideh, ending at Jizah.
At Jizah, several performances featuring traditional songs and dances were held.
Various local companies also held celebrations to mark seven decades since the end of the British mandate over Jordan.
Motorcades and parades were held in Amman and other major cities around the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Near the Greater Amman Municipality's headquarters, singers and bands performed national songs, accompanied by traditional dances.
In Aqaba, some 330km south of Amman, a major public celebration was held at the Arab Revolt Square in which radio stations and traditional bands participated.
Streets in Mafraq, some 80km northeast of the capital, were adorned with the Jordanian and Arab Revolt flags and banners commemorating the national day.
A handicraft and photo exhibition was opened at Ajloun Municipality, some 70km northwest of the capital, celebrating Independence Day.
In Zarqa, 22km east of Amman, a festive procession was held with the participation of around 500 people who were carrying the Jordanian flag.
