AMMAN — The Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector Activity (SHOPS) programme celebrated at Al Hussein Cultural Centre the completion of its five-year family planning project, a USAID statement said Monday.

The project’s achievements include 1.4 million home counselling visits conducted through community health workers and funding the procurement of 20 clinics for the Jordan Association for Family Planning and Protection.

In the private sector, the project assisted in the expansion of a nationwide network of private physicians and pharmacists to increase the availability of family planning services. “This project has played a leading role in ensuring Jordanian families have access to quality family planning services in line with their religious and cultural values,” the statement quoted USAID Deputy Mission Director Lewis Tatem as saying.
