Chief EU election observer to hold press conference

AMMAN — David Martin, a member of the European Parliament from the UK and the chief observer of the EU Election Observation Mission (EU EOM), will hold a press conference on Thursday, in which he is expected to underline the EU EOM’s mandate over the coming few weeks, according to a statement from the mission’s press office.
Previously, Independent Elections Commission Spokesperson Hussein Bani Hani said the commission had invited the EU EOM to observe the January 23 elections, adding that it will include nearly 80 members.
All is set for the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to observe the Kingdom’s January 23 elections, according to the mission’s chief observer, David Martin.
Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications and Government Spokesperson Samih Maaytah on Wednesday said the government would provide all needed support to ensure the success of election observer missions on January 23.
The United States and the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on Friday commended the “transparent, credible” manner the January 23 parliamentary elections were conducted, pledging more support for the Kingdom.
