CID officers among four killed in road accidents over weekend

AMMAN — Four people were killed and 28 injured in road accidents across Jordan over the weekend, officials said on Saturday.

Two Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers died in a collision in Jafer in the southern governorate of Maan. 

Second Lieutenant Hassan Jbour and Corporal Yousef Rawabieh were killed when the CID pickup truck that Rawabieh was driving crashed into another truck whose driver failed to notice the traffic signs, Lt. Col. Yaser Habahbeh of the Central Traffic Department (CTD) told The Jordan Times. 

Abdullah Saudi, a Civil Defence Department warrant officer, said the accident took place at 11:58pm, and that three people were injured and taken to Maan Public Hospital. 

In Aqaba’s Rahmeh area, two people were killed and eight injured when a bus carrying 12 passengers collided with a truck, Habahbeh said. 

The bus was headed to Wadi Araba, but was in the wrong lane when it crashed into an oncoming truck, the CTD official explained. 

CDD personnel took the injured to the Prince Hashem Military Hospital, he added.

On Friday, seven people were injured in a collision involving a minibus and another vehicle. The injured were taken to Al Iman Public Hospital, where they were listed in a fair condition.  

On Saturday, 10 people were injured in an accident in Balqa's Wadi Al Naqa and taken to Salt Public Hospital. They were reported to be in fair condition.
