AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have identified a woman who was allegedly killed two years ago in Salt’s Wadi Shuaib and arrested all involved suspects, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Thursday.

Since the discovery of the charred corpse, investigations have been ongoing to identify the woman and arrest the suspects.

Her family, who had not reported their daughter missing at the time of the incident, told detectives that their daughter left her home and they lost contact with her.

After further investigations and contacts with the woman’s entourage, the personnel interrogated her neighbour, who eventually confessed to beating the victim to death with the help of her two sons.

The alleged perpetrator then asked some of her friends to help getting rid of the body by taking it to Wadi Shuaib, some 35km northwest of Amman, and burning it.

CID agents arrested the woman, her sons and her two friends, who all confessed to committing the crime.

Further investigations are still ongoing in preparation to their referral to the judiciary.

On February 8, 2016, the body was found by passersby who immediately alerted the concerned authorities.

At the time, the National Institute of Forensic Medicine said that death had been caused by repeated beatings before the body was burned.

At the crime scene, a gallon of gasoline was found next to the victim’s body, along with the remains of a red shirt.
