In-class education ‘irreversible’ — Education minister

AMMAN — In-class education is irreversible, especially amid the drop in the percentage of students testing positive for COVID-19 across the Kingdom, Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohammad Abu Qudais said on Thursday. 

The minister’s remarks came during the opening of  the Korean-funded Al Baida School, in the presence of Korea’s Ambassador to Jordan Lee Jae-wan and Irbid Governor Radwan Ottoum, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

Qudais said that the opening of this school, in addition to two others in Mafraq and Zarqa, is the result of Jordanian-Korean cooperation. 

He highlighted the importance of the gesture amid the challenges facing the Kingdom’s education sector, due to overcrowded public schools.

The ministry is considering opening 60 schools during the next two years to address these challenges, he added.

He lauded South Korea’s efforts to help create an ideal learning environment in Jordan’s schools. 

The Korean envoy reiterated his country’s commitment to continue supporting the Kingdom’s education sector, noting that the Korean International Cooperation Agency-funded schools are implemented according to the best practices to develop digital schools.

He also added that Korea is continuing support for Jordan in light of the challenges posed by hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees, noting that further cooperation will focus on serving Jordan’s development and modernisation efforts.
