AMMAN — The World Affairs Council, in a letter to US President Donald Trump, has urged Washington to support UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which states that Israeli settlement activity is a flagrant violation of international laws.
In the letter, a copy of which was sent to The Jordan Times on Monday, council members stress that the Palestinian cause lies at the centre of regional issues, warning of any decision to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Such a move, the council said, would “initiate further extreme reactions and promote hatred” of the US among Arabs and Muslims. The letter was signed by former prime ministers Abdel Salam Majali and Taher Masri, who are the heads of the council’s board of directors and board of trustees respectively.
