Court hearings in casino case continue

By Petra - Dec 12,2012 - Last updated at Dec 12,2012

AMMAN — The Amman Criminal Court on Wednesday continued to hear testimonies from prosecution witnesses in the suspected corruption case known as the “casino file”.

Moayad Droubi, former tourism minister Osama Dabbas’ driver, told the court that he heard Dabbas talk about the casino several times on the phone.

Another witness, Moayad Kawar, a member of the National Tourism Council, said he signed a decision labelling the casino as a legitimate tourism business without actually reading the contents of the document.

The casino case entailed a deal signed by former premier Marouf Bakhit’s first government with a British investor in 2007 to build and operate a casino on the shores of the Dead Sea, which was later scrapped by the government of Nader Dahabi.
