AMMAN — Grand Criminal Court Prosecutor Ashraf Al Abdullah on Saturday banned the publication of "baseless information" on any form of media by citizens on the alleged murder of a woman (Arwa, 17). Reports on social media accused the woman's husband of murder. The ban came after authorities clarified that the information that went viral on social media was untrue, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Abdullah banned the publication or republication of the investigation papers, photographs of the crime scene, and stressed that anyone who attempts to influence the public opinion in any form, either through websites or social media will be held legally responsible. The move is aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the prosecution, Petra said.
