AMMAN — The defence team of former General Intelligence Department (GID) chief Mohammad Dahabi on Sunday filed an appeal of the verdict issued against their client, sentencing him to over 13 years in prison on corruption-related charges.

One of Dahabi’s lawyers, Mahmoud Kilani, said the team requested that the Court of Appeal hear further testimony from witnesses in the case.

Last month, the Amman Criminal Court found Dahabi guilty of all charges, including embezzlement, money laundering and exploitation of public office, and sentenced him to 13 years and three months in prison.
