AMMAN — At dawn on Wednesday, Eastern Military Zone personnel foiled an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle large amounts of narcotics coming into the Kingdom from Syria.

A military source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that border guards, in coordination with military security and anti-narcotics departments, detected a group of smugglers who tried to cross the borders illegally, which required them to apply rules of engagement that resulted in their retreat, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Searching the area, military personnel found 196 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 610,000 Captagon pills which were handed over to the relevant agencies, added the source.
