Ensour calls for speedy endorsement of income tax bill

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Wednesday called for a swift endorsement of the 2014 draft income tax law, noting that it is a major contributor to the Treasury.

During a meeting with the Lower House’s Economy and Investment Committee, Ensour said endorsing the law represents a main reform requirement.

The premier hailed amendments introduced by the committee, urging its members to examine the law’s articles, especially the ones on exemptions and tax ratios, with great care.

Finance Minister Umayya Toukan and Eyad Qudah, director general of the Income and Sales Tax Department, attended the meeting.
