AMMAN — The Environment Ministry will deal firmly with any violation causing pollution, especially from industrial facilities, Environment Minister Yaseen Khayyat said on Tuesday.
It is unacceptable for facilities to practice their work at the expense of the environment, Khayyat said in a statement, adding that field visits will be intensified for inspectors to work in cooperation with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature and check on industrial facilities across the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the minister said it is unacceptable to stay silent about forest fires, some of which are the result of arson, according to investigations.
There were five forest fires in September, focused in Ajloun and Jerash, while 11 industrial facilities were closed, the statement said, adding that 2,651 warnings were issued.
