AMMAN — Minister of Tourism and Minister of Environment Nayef Al Fayez on Thursday emphasised the importance of monitoring environmental problems caused by chemical factories and cow farms in Duleil, east of Zarqa.
During a meeting with a delegation representing the Hallabat area in Duleil, Fayez explained that the ministry wants to help industrial entities overcome environmental problems.
He also stressed that the ministry encourages investments, provided that they pose no harm to the environment.
The ministry will start running environmental police patrols in Hallabat next week to detect violations, the minister added.
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister of Water and Irrigation Mahir Abul Samin and Minister of Tourism and Minister of Environment Nayef Al Fayez on Monday visited the Hallabat area and were briefed on the demands and needs of its residents.
Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez on Sunday visited Qasr Al Hallabat and checked on the renovations carried out by the Department of Antiquities and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation.
The Ministry of Environment is drawing up plans to transform land bordering a section of the Zarqa River between Amman and Jerash Governorate into a park, according to a government official.
