AMMAN — The Chief Islamic Justice Department on Tuesday launched a counselling programme for couples planning to marry to educate them on building a family. Islamic Justice Abdul Karim Khasawneh said that the programme includes the legislative, legal, psychological, social, financial and healthcare aspects of raising a family.
The counselling aims to raise awareness on “the rights and responsibilities of wives” and teach the participants 'active' communicational skills, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The programme, which is obligatory for couples under 18, will begin in September and include one class per week in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid and Rusaifa governorates. In later stages, the programme will be taught in the rest of the governorates and be available to older couples.
Khasawneh also thanked the Islamic Bank for sponsoring the programme’s first phase.
