AMMAN — Police on Wednesday arrested four suspects who reportedly entered a citizen’s home in Shafa Badran area in the capital claiming to be official security personnel and stole various pieces of gold and jewellery. A Public Security Department (PSD) statement said the suspects, who were armed, entered the house with the pretence of searching it for security reasons.
The suspects escaped in two vehicles, whose description was released to law enforcement authorities. Criminal Investigation Department personnel tracked down the suspects and managed to stop one of the vehicles in Jerash’s Dibeen area, arresting one suspect, while the other car sped off.
Police were able to stop the second vehicle in Mafraq and arrested the three other suspects, seizing three firearms and JD2,500, believed to be the price of the illegally sold jewellery, the PSD added. The suspects confessed to committing the theft and other similar home burglaries, and an investigation is under way, according to the PSD statement.
