AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) agents on Wednesday announced the arrest of four people who were allegedly in possession of 113,000 illegal drug pills in two separate incidents in Amman and the southern region earlier this week."Three suspects, all Jordanians, were arrested in a raid on a house in a southern governorate by our agents after being monitored for a short period," a senior AND official said.

“No one was injured during the raid and after searching the house, our agents found 28,000 illegal narcotic pills,” the official told The Jordan Times.

In the second operation, the source added, AND agents received a tip that “a Jordanian had stored illegal narcotic pills with the intent of selling them in an Amman neighbourhood”.

“The man was arrested without any major incidents and the agents found 85,000 illegal pills at his house,” said a statement issued by the Public Security Department.

The source said the illegal pills, mostly Captagon, “were smuggled from neighbouring countries and destined for Arab Gulf countries because they sell for a higher price there”.

The suspects were referred to the State Security Court prosecutor for questioning and indictment.
