AMMAN — France’s Ambassador to Jordan David Bertolotti has inaugurated a project in Madaba, 30km southwest of the capital, to strengthen the livelihood of refugees, the French embassy said on Thursday.

The project, to improve the coping strategies of displaced Iraqis and vulnerable Jordanians, will include workshops on mosaics and handicrafts in the garden of the Greek Melkite Church in Madaba, the embassy said in a statement on its Facebook page.

The project is being implemented by Caritas Jordan and funded by France. Bertolotti said he hoped the project would help the social and economic inclusion of Iraqi refugees, “many of them members of persecuted minorities”. Caritas Jordan Director Wael Suleiman thanked the French government and people for their support.
