Gendarmerie chief meets French security official

AMMAN — Gendarmerie Department Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh on Thursday discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the Jordanian and French gendarmerie with director of security and defence cooperation in the French foreign ministry, Didier Brosse, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Jordan has exerted "huge" security and humanitarian efforts in confronting terrorism and has borne the burdens of hosting refugees from neighbouring countries despite huge security and economic challenges, Hawatmeh said.
He commended the relations between the Jordanian and French gendarmerie, noting that the Jordanian forces seek to enhance their expertise through effective international partnerships.
The French Lieutenant General praised the ties with the Jordanian gendarmerie and commended the outstanding Jordanian "model" of security, which is in accordance with the highest international criteria in maintaining security.
