Gov’t working hours, classes at schools delayed to 10am

AMMAN — Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Sunday decided to delay working hours at public departments on Monday from 8am to 10am as a precaution due to expected icy roads.

Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat also decided to delay the start of classes at public and private schools from 8am to 10am.

Thneibat said education directors have the authority to coordinate with administrative governors and decide if schools should be off in their areas due to weather conditions.

The education director at Southern Mazar District in Karak, Odallah Btoush, announced a day off for schools in the area on Monday.

Amman Arab University, the Middle East University and the World Islamic Sciences and Education University also delayed the start of classes to 10am, while lectures at Balqa Applied University will start at 11am.

Classes at the University of Jordan will start at 9am on Monday.
