Gov’t announces new JD114m healthcare development plan

AMMAN — In accordance with government priorities for 2019-2020, the Ministry of Health is carrying out several construction, expansion and development projects at a total cost of JD114 million, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

To ensure smooth delivery of medical services, Health Ministry Secretary General Hikmat Abul Foul said that the ministry will appoint around 400 physicians and 750 pharmacists, along with a number of health staff in coordination with the Civil Service Bureau.

Abul Foul added that the ministry’s executive plan to reform the health sector includes constructing new hospitals to deal with the increasing number of patients that receive treatment in public hospitals. He stressed that a number of these projects will finish by the end of 2020.
