AMMAN — Agriculture Minister Khaled Hneifat on Wednesday held discussions with Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, Abdullah Lahlouh, on the establishment of a Jordanian-Palestinian company to market agricultural produce in both countries, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Arab Commission for Agricultural Investment and Development has expressed willingness to invest by 25 per cent in the company, while the rest will be contributed by the Jordanian and the Palestinian governments and the private sector in both countries, Petra reported.
They are also studying the possibility of establishing an agricultural airport in the future, the minister said.
Hneifat noted that the agricultural sector in both countries is facing important challenges, especially in terms of water scarcity and regional turmoil.
The establishment of this company aims to strengthen cooperation in dealing with mutual trade and marketing challenges in the sector.
