House speaker warns against consequences of Israeli assault

CAIRO — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Thursday warned against the consequences of the continued injustice suffered by the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

In his address at the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union emergency meeting, Tarawneh blamed Israel’s stalling over negotiations for the continuation of the Middle East peace crisis, stressing Jordan’s support for Palestinian rights.

He called on governments to increase the relief aid dispatched to Palestine and urged them to further expose Israeli violations of human rights.
