AMMAN — On the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Jordanians are reaffirming their unwavering solidarity with Palestine.

The occasion, observed annually on November 29 since 1977, encourages member states to continue to provide the greatest amount of support and publicity to the day’s observance, according to the UN website.

It was on that day, in 1947, that the UN General Assembly adopted the 181 resolution on the partition of Palestine, according to the UN website.

“For us, we don’t need a particular day to have a strong Palestine focus,” Azzam Deeb, 44, said. Deeb added that the Palestinian cause remains central not only for Jordanians, but for the majority of Arabs.

However, he said the international community is still turning a blind eye to the daily suffering of Palestinians, and as “regular people, we will continue to spread the truth about what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories”.

“We teach our children about Palestine, its history, culture and strong will, which remained despite all the suffering and destruction happening there,” Salma Ali, a Jordanian mother of three, told The Jordan Times on Monday.

Jordanians of all ages are aware of the centrality of the Palestinian cause, and it is a top priority for the Jordanian government, she said.

The official hashtag on social media platforms this year will be #PalestineDay.
