AMMAN — The Ministry of Education will take strict measures against Cambridge High School if it is found that the recent drowning of one of its student is a result of negligence, Education Minister Mohammad Thneibat said on Friday.

A seven-year-old girl drowned in her school’s pool in Amman last Monday while swimming with her peers at the private school, which prompted the ministry to open an investigation into the incident.

The panel includes members of the ministry’s private education and legal affairs departments and will present its report to court.

During a visit to the girl’s parents to offer his condolences, Thneibat said the committee was still investigating the incident.
